Ringing is a serious activity, you will need to handle birds safely causing them the minimum of stress and at the same time be able to take biometric measurements quickly and efficiently. All bird ringers must have a permit issued by the British Trust for Ornithology after undertaking a period of training.
Woodcock ringing takes place at night so you will need to be comfortable working outdoors at night often in cold and wet conditions.
